Raise the Wage South Bay & Peninsula Coalition is working in cities across Silicon Valley from San Jose to San Mateo to see a raise to $15 by 2018
Congress has failed to raise the Federal minimum wage. As a result, cities and states around the country are taking it upon themselves to raise the local minimum wage. They understand that full-time workers should not have to struggle to pay their rent or feed their families. California has a statewide minimum wage that is higher than the Federal standard, but it still isn’t high enough, especially in areas with high costs of living like ours. That’s why Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Santa Clara and San Jose have set their own minimum wage levels and ensured that the wage increases automatically with inflation, something that neither the California nor Federal minimums do.
